TKS standout Roman Martin notched national honors today by being recognized as the National Player of the Week by Top Drawer.

Wake Forest-bound Roman Martin has led the La Jolla Country Day soccer team to 7-1-1 start in the month of December. The 6’1″ senior midfielder kicked off his scoring campaign with a hat trick and an assist in a preseason friendly versus Horizon Christian Academy on December 2. Martin then led the Torreys in a championship run through the Southern California High School Soccer Tournament in Temecula, California on Dec 4-6, being named the tournament’s Most Valuable Offensive Player. In total through Dec 20, the Torrey’s triggerman notched 9 goals and 6 assists, accounting for 24 points. For his early season offensive performance, Martin was also named “Prep Athlete of the Week” by the San Diego Union Tribune on Dec 17. Martin, who formerly played his club soccer for the Nomads U18 U.S. Development Academy, rejoined his high school team after the Thanksgiving break.

When asked about his performance this month, Martin said, “I am really fortunate to play with a talented group of players at La Jolla Country Day. It is great to play for my high school again and with great group of players that that like to knock the ball around and are equally committed to defending.”

Last summer, Martin also played for the U19 team at GNK Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia and is expected to return to Europe to play for Dinamo’s U19 team this spring and again later this summer before reporting into Wake Forest University in August, 2015, where he will be playing in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Martin has trained in the TKS system since 2011.
